Rock ‘n Roots Farm is more than a farm.
We are a family farm that strives to use an integrative approach to ensure that our products, the land and our food are accessible so our community can thrive and attain more vitality and fulfillment in their lives.
Located in the North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River just outside Paonia, Colorado, Rock ‘n Roots Farm is the product of love for the land, a commitment to sustainability and the heartfelt belief that we the people have the ability, resources, and power to make a lasting change for our community and our planet. Our land is adjacent to the North Fork of the Gunnison River from which our irrigation water runs.
Our hemp fields and those above us have always been used for pasture and hay, with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Our water runs pure and clean from the headwaters of the West Elk Wilderness. We practice sustainable farming methods, with organic fertilizers and low or no till which maintains the health of the soils and watershed.
We have witnessed the power that nature has to help us heal.
From taking a walk through the woods to learning about the healing properties of the plants that are all around us. Here on the farm we not only grow food and herbs as medicine, but we grow hemp for CBD oil as well. Our CBD oil is derived from our hemp that is grown using beyond organic practices to produce the highest quality possible.
Fresh Food
We live on 24 acres of property and as stewards of this magical piece of land we are committed to growing organic fruits, vegetables and herbs, providing a space for honey bees to thrive and raising free range animals.
All of our food (that we don’t eat!) is sold through a pay-what-you-can model that increases access to healthy food in our community. During our time farming in Denver, we pioneered this model of pay-what-you-can farmstands throughout the city that allowed greater access to healthy local food and we have since brought that model to our community here on the Western Slope.
The model is simple-we provide a suggested price and our customers have the option pay that price, less if they need to or more if they are able to support another. It’s a simple concept that’s rooted in our beliefs that all individuals should have access to healthy food and that our community, when given the opportunity, will make the right decisions to support each other and the farmers that steward the land.
